No greater joy and blogging

I had never heard of "No Greater Joy" Ministries. I really believe I could have gone my whole life that way. There is a fine, fine line between disciplining your children and scaring them into submission. A child who grows up in fear of the people they love and trust is not going to grow up to be a strong, wise person. They grow up to either be angry, or broken, or abusive. Hitting is not the only way to discipline. Corner time works, denial of objects works, 1-2-3 magic works. Hitting is violence and violence only begets violence.
I went to the website and read an article, where it was mentioned off-hand that a child raised under the NGJ tenets had picked up a stick and started hitting the dog with it. To me, that says a lot. It says that the child thinks nothing of smacking a beloved pet. Is that a loving Christian's way?
Okay, I'm done with that.
Now, I've been thinking of trying to become a professional blogger. Except, I'm not sure what I'd blog about. I considered writing about being a female nerd/lolita/whatever else I identify as, brought up in the South and living as a modern liberal spiritual type, surrounded by mostly conservative religious types (tentative title: Southern Fried Loli). But, right now, I live so far from anything, I wouldn't have much to write about. It may just have to wait another year.
