I occasionally have issues with people trampling on my time because I work from home as a freelance writer/editor. Some people take a while to understand that when I am in my office, I'm WORKING and not to be interrupted lightly, on pain of dragonfire.
If you want people to respect your time and space, you will probably have to put concerted effort into teaching them that. They have to understand there are consequences if they don't.
